EVENTS & FOLKLORE
Among the events during the Spring Time, we advice you that in April there is the “Pedagnalonga” in Borgo Hermada (far from the Campsite about 10 Km). It’s a special walk (21 Km) trough the Agro Pontino fields during which you can taste many typical local products that the people offer all along the way. It’s not a race but a nice walk in our traditions!! Adults, children… we invite everybody to spend an unforgettable day.
On the 1st of May, the appointment is at S.Silviano (Terracina). During the Feast you can listen good music and it’s possible to eat and drink many products with friends.
The last week of May there i s an other particular walk by bicycle trough the National Park of S.Felice Circeo. It’s the Ciclonatura and it’s really unique in Italy.
June it’s the month of the popular feasts. From the "Cherry Feast” in Maenza to “the taste of the ancient Terracina” organized in the historical centre of the high part of the city. Our region is famous for the “mozzarella di bufala” and there is a feast in Borgo Vodice (about 20 Km far from the Campsite) for this cheese, it’s "the Bufala Feast”.
But the most beautiful event of the season it’s the "Infiorata Itrana". More than 200 metres of the street painted according some images of the Bible and coloured by very little pieces of cut flowers (see the picture). It’s really exciting!!
During the summer months of July and August there are a lot of cultural events, organized by the public associations of the cities, like antique markets and feasts (feast of fig, feast of fish, feast of oil, feast of water-melon, feast of the bread and beans soup, feast of “polenta”); the "Sabaudia Jazz Festival" near the church of “Sorresca” (it’s an a wonderful little church on the Sabaudia’s lake shore); the International Folklore Festival of Fondi acknowledged by many stranger Countries which have part in this festival with their delegations; l'Handfest (International sport event of handball); the feast of the Sea of Terracina, with sea processions and popular games.
For who loves History we recommend the "Palio del tributo" and "The Medieval Feast" of Priverno (about 15 Km from Settebello): games, events, and some medieval activities, with re-evocations of the ancient “palio” in the Fossanova Abbey decor.
in September the wine-gastronomy events go on with the “Feast of Moscato (wine)” in Monte San Biagio with expo and little taste of the wine, and “the streets of Gaeta” to its third celebration and the last feast of the summer is the feast of “Madonna della Delibera” in Terracina, with market, music and popular dancing in the square of the church.
On the week-ends it’s possible to visit the Pontian Islands (Ponza, Ventotene and Palmarola) and the beautiful historical centre of the towns around the Campsite with organized tours.
